Sysert has been for years a center of ceramic production based on clay mined on the banks of the Sysert River. Sysert workshop "Goncharka" provided all the surrounding villages with ceramic products. On the basis of "Goncharka" was in 1928 created an artel "Chelyuskintsy", which in 1934 was merged with other local artels and renamed "Promcooperator". Main activity of the new enterprise was the production of pottery and artistic ceramics.

During WWII, the enterprise produced children's toys, mirrors, tarpaulins and woolen felt boots. In the post-war years ceramic was still shaped, fired and glazed according to the old tradition.

On October 10, 1960, the "Promcooperator" artel was renamed into a factory of ceramic products. The production of electrical equipment was started, which provided funds for the development of artistic ceramic.

In 1960s was developed porcelain production. In 1963-64 new artists and technologists made a significant contribution to the development and direction of the factory. Was started the production of tea and coffee sets, vases and figurines, including small figurines based on Bazhov's tales: "The Mistress of the Copper Mountain", "Danila the Master", "Daryonka with Muryonka", "Golden Hair".

On October 10, 1977 the plant was renamed into the Sysert Artistic Porcelain Factory. The plant became one of four enterprises in the USSR (Bronnitsy, Mineralnye Vody, Gzhel, Sysert), which were engaged in the production of highly artistic gift items.

The company went through the economic crisis of the mid-90s. And in 1994, the products of the factory were officially classified by the Regional Artistic and Expert Council as folk crafts.

In 1998, the company received an order for the restoration of the faience iconostasis for the revived Holy Cross Cathedral of the Verkhotursky St. Nicholas Monastery. This is how the enterprise mastered the production of a new type of unique product - iconostases.

Since 2000, the plant began to actively use computer modeling. However, up to 80% of the technological process is manual labor.

In 2004, the form of ownership of the enterprise was changed, now it is LLC "Porcelain Sysert".
