Jean Mayodon is considered one of the greatest ceramists of his generation. He was also a painter and interior decorator, created ceramic murals and fountains. 

Mayodon was born in 1893. He fired his first works at Milet's kiln. Circa 1915 he built his own kiln. Trying to achieve the best possible results he ordered another two kilns.

1934 - 1939 he was appointed as artistic advisor to the Sèvres Manufacture, then artistic director of the factory in the years 1941-1942. During this period, he created more than eighty forms of vases.

Jean Mayodon works were inspired by Hindu and Persian arts. He died in 1967.
